During the second half of the XVth century, Bartolomeo de' Rossi erected a sumptuous residence; a castle that could host receptions for aristocrats, academics and clergy visiting Bologna on diplomatic missions. In 1507 the castle lodged Pope Julius II with all his entourage and in 1516 it was Pope Leo X’s turn. On that occasion, the Pope proclaimed Pontecchio an Earldom, it became the de' Rossi family’s fief which included the right of jurisdiction overall the surrounding lands. Palazzo de' Rossi’s imposing structure and its vast gardens are the ideal setting for grand gala receptions, presentations and other events, though it also includes more intimate spaces and can host more private dinners, business meetings or theme parties, as Conviviali in the renaissance style; the location is able to recreate the magical feeling and a XVIth century's fascinating court atmosphere.
